Not so long, long ago . . .
Anyone who has taken a course on the home campus has spent at least a little time wandering around the classroom building, looking at undulating carvings; viewing pictures of various SOLO construction projects and trips abroad; contemplating crazy climbing moves (verboten in the building); perhaps pondering with puzzlement the strange shoe bolted to the top rafter; enjoying foreign flags fluttering ’round the 3rd floor rim; and marveling at the kayak frame hanging high above the third floor . . . SOLO’s history is unique and full of quirky stories (usually with more than one version . . . . )
You can get the official SOLO history on this page of the SOLO website.
Some fascinating pictures and descriptions of the unique architecture at SOLO can be found at Dovetails, the blog of our “artist-in-residence” at SOLO.
